Discover the native bees

The Melipona Maya Foundation

The Melipona bees are native meso-american bees, they have no sting and are smaller than the Melifera bees we all know. Funny fact : some species have blue eyes, so bring your best camera to confirm it!

The Melipona bees produce a fine honey with medicinal properties, it was sacred for the antique Mayans, and still today the Mayan villages use it as a medicine daily. As being a center part of the Mayan culture, these bees are the main object of studies for the Fundación Melipona Maya who works on rescue projects, investigation studies and resettlement of the Melipona culture in the Mayan Communities of Tulum.

Don Diego de la Selva is hosting in its gardens a Meliponario for breeding colonies, we invite you to visit it : it’s something amazing to discover their organization and taste their honey ; if you believe in this project, join us and become a sponsor of a beehive. Aside of it, you may come with us in the communities or simply have a smooth skin treatment made with our Melipona honey at the Spa.

Dive
Unique diving experience

In Tulum, whether you are a beginner or a professional diver, you have to try at least diving in a cenote! These are natural pools, in the middle of a mangrove or in the limestone, creating a unique hydraulic system of subterranean rivers, and connecting all these accesses from the whole Yucatan Peninsula. Take advantage on the knowledge of Jean-Charles, who runs our diving center Zen-Diving, he will show you the underwater wonderland!
